I need some help sourcing the correct throttle shaft for my 40 HP ML 2 stroke Mercury Mariner.
serial number is 6E9 L 359629. Throttle and steering are controlled by tiller arm on the engine, and the throttle shaft protrudes outside the top cowling to connect to a quick release fitting from the tiller throttle cable.
I ordered part number 83527T, throttle control shaft for a Mariner 40 engine from Marine Engines as this was the part shown in the parts listings , this part is the alternative to 83527M.
The only problem is the shaft received is 2 1/2 inches long, but the one on the engine is longer, maybe 2 3/4 or 3 inch.
Can anyone advise if you know if there is a longer shaft available, or is anyone breaking a 40hp with the longer throttle shaft?
This stops me operating the engine as I have no throttle as the shaft is to short to re-assemble everything on it.
Thanks
Darryl
