Well guys, I did the dumbest & most untinkable thing. I pulled both plug wires from the plugs, now I don't know which one goes where. What would be the easiest way to find out?:( It's a 1990 50 H.P. force.

Re: Correct plug wires to which plug?

I hope you figured this out. I searched for a diagram or Pic with no luck. Usually the wires will basically tell you where they fit. Hopefully someone will send you a pic or some info soon (if you still need it). My question is what would happen if cranked with them crossed? jow

Hard to tell on that motor just by looking at it.

Put them on and try it.

If it backfires you have them wrong.

A backfire in the 1970s is all I remember vs any damages on cars vs boats. I hated to hear a backfire then. Who knows what a back fire could cause now (maybe a fuel pump diaphragm)?? Get those Digital Cameras out for the before and after questions/notes/history. They Take Good Notes vs The Memory!! jow

Based from the attached diagram, the ignition coil with orange or blue-orange wire from the CDM goes to #1 cylinder. Assuming this is the wiring diagram for your particular motor.

And assuming that it is the original cdm and wiring, and that no one has swapped the wires and the trigger wires to make it work sometime in the past.

YES, you run the risk of losing the fuel pump diaphragm, or a flywheel key.
The way I see it, no matter what you do, you will be guessing. The diaphragm is cheap and likely is due for replacement anyway, and the key is only $5 as well.
