Correct mooring weight

Hi guys... I have a 19 foot sea fox with a 115 2 stroke on the back. I keep it in a lake about 26 miles long (so it does blow up pretty good)... was wondering what the correct weight I should buy for the mooring is? I recently purchased a 200 pound mushroom anchor, but when I called up the local Marina they are telling me I could use a 500 pound. Now, I've been around boats all my life, and to me this seems crazy. We used to keep a 18 foot wellcraft I/O out on the buoy with 2 submerged cement buckets as the weights and it did not move or drag it one bit. Let me know what you guys think...I'm thinking this is just an easy way of getting me to buy and use their anchors at a crazy price when I don't think I need that much. Thanks

Don't know river, wind, current, weather, how deep mooring is, or what slope will be on the cable. I'm seeing your boat max weight is 3200 and dry around 2800 pounds. Without much slop and if wind gets bad, things can move. Give some more info please

Hey tpenfield have a look

Well . . . you "could" use a 1,000 lbs  , but I don't see any reason to . . . Not even a 500 lb. would be needed. I think you are OK with the 200 lb. . . . That is what was spec'd by our local authorities for boats 20-24 ft.

when I upgraded to a 33 foot boat, I had to go with a 500 lb mooring.
