Have a '71 Merc 9.8, and want to confirm where cooling water should be coming out. I have lower unit off and have forced water through the tube to the motor, I get water coming out the 'pee' tube on the outside of the motor AND coming down from the inside of the drive shaft housing. It does NOT appear to be leaking from around where the tube goes into the water jacket. So just wanted to confirm that this was indeed normal. That is, not all the water should be coming out the side 'pee hole'. Is that correct?

Tks.

Re: Cooling Water Exit

Correct, water joins the exhaust stream to reduce mid leg temps.
