Have a 1976 35HP Evinrude that I cannot get water pumping through correctly. The water pump has been changed twice (impeller is fine) but I still cannot get water pumping through the system. Is there another possible cause for this?

Thanks for your advice.

Yes, there are other causes. First, dont trust the earmuffs. get a garbage can and tank test it.
Find the thermostat. These are usually located above the upper spark plug on the head, under a housing secured with screws or a clip (sorta like the ones used on brake fluid resevours on cars).
You can remove it, check for flow, and replace it, but DO NOT leave it out for good.
Unequal head cooling will result, and that's bad news.
Also check the tube inside the poerhead cover going to the tell-tale hole, and look for blockages there.
I even had a muddawber build a mud-nest in my intake.

------------------
I came, I saw, I Have No CLUE!
