I agree with the above. If you were leaning towards a single engine I'd just go with replacing the I/O. If you're going to go outboard....go for twins.

I'd go with the outboard bracket. I have not read a single post about anyone complaining about the conversion. In fact, in the 5 or so years I have been on this forum, I have never read about anyone here doing a conversion with a bracket, so I don't think you will find much info on this forum about it.

Brackets are more popular with the off-shore fishing crowd. Its nice to have twin outboards when that far out just so when one breaks down, there is still one left to limp home on.

There are lots of bracket manufacturers out there. If it didn't work, they would not be in business.

check ebay, i seen some welded alum. twin brackets for $1200-1500, a lot cheaper than some others out there, but the armstrong has a good reputation

Mark, that's the ticket. Those are hot units! The whole idea behind them is to keep the props in the water when going up and over swells.
They say its the best thing there is to keep you from chine walking after cresting a swell and having to slam it into reverse to stay in control.
