I boat on Lake Mead, but after 2012, my '94 Yamaha 150hp will be illegal. Is there a way to convert it to direct injection to make it legal in the park?

Just like practically everyone who boated on Lake Tahoe some years back, you will have to obtain a low-emission certified engine after the cut-off date.

In California, the law does not care if it's two or four stroke it only classifies them as small or large engines. Whether or not a two stroke is allowed on the water is up to the local governments. Truth be told, nobody can figure it out and few know the difference between a 1, 2, 3 star emissions rating.

You can buy the stickers from the manufacturer and put them on any cowling. Not exactly honest but I wouldn't give it a second thought if I had a clean running motor.
