I converted my convertible top to a bimini top (sort of). It works great and definitely is cooler with some air flow, rather than having the convertible top snapped to the windshield. Plus, you can stand up when you’re driving.

I will be adding 3 straps on the front, attaching to the windshield for using when at cruise speed (mine is 25 mph). If you like to go really fast, then you’d probably need to take it down, which is very quick and easy to do.

Total cost was less than 15.00 at Lowe’s. I'll probably paint mine the same color as the fabric.

To some, it might be a little too Redneck.

To me, it's just down home ingenuity!

Welcome to Iboats sandcassel. Unfortunately the Iboats website, I understand, will not let you post photos until you have made at least 3 text posts first. I dunno the wisdom or the issue, but this comes up regularly when new members try to post pictures. I'd like to see the pictures when you can post them. - Grandad

Thank you for posting this! I now have a winter project in mind! The guy I bought my boat from last December bought a new bimini top but didn't make sure to buy one that would work with the wake board tower so I've had the tower off all summer so that we can use the top. I was thinking of buying a new top this winter that would work with the tower but it never popped into my mind to just build a new frame for the existing canvas that I can attach to the tower. That's my new plan. I'll probably try and salvage as much of the existing frame as I can and make it so that it folds but worst case I just build from scratch using PVC or something and build it so that I can easily detach and store when the boat's covered in storage.
