OUTDRIVE CONVERSION, from manually lift to transport to electric trim

1967 950ss, converted to electric trim with 1979 150 electric trim system
on my 950ss, when you set motor down for use, it trips a lever that drops into lower housing to allow you to put throttle shift linkage in cabin into neutral, once engine is running you can now shift forward reverse etc and motor away, the only way to lift this motor for transport is set shifter into forward, or the motor is locked down, and your shifter mech wont go into neutral unless motor is down and linkage is locked in, will I have to replace this lower unit with the lower unit on the 150 that doesn't have all this crap????

You didn't disable the reverse lock hardware when you converted the trim.

Look under the clamp bracket for two hooks that latch on the tilt lock pin in reverse and neutral.

Item 45 is the reverse hook;

As GA_Boat said, on the power trim models, or where the PT was added later, some of the parts are removed. # 44 and Parts 15 thru 19 on pic below. They are connected to 44 and enter the front of the exhaust housing

Ayuh,...... Back 'bout what seems to be a hundred years ago, I put PT on an ole Tower of Power,.....

All I did to fix the issue above was remove the stop pin that the lock hooks onto,....
That allowed the PT to be run any time ya want, 'n allowed full travel of the t/t, from Full up, to Full down, not stoppin' on the trim limit pin,...
#46 in GA's picture,....

Update: electric trim is on and working like a dream. New hoses helped a ton, so far no leaks from the hydraulic rams on the motor that actual do the heavy lifting,.
I left the lock pin in place, under the assumption, if part 45 listed above didn't make contact with it, the shifter would not move to neutral, and I promptly, failed to put motor in gear, upon pulling boat out at ramp and had to think hard for a second till it dawned on me when the motor wouldn't go up, had to chuckle at myself once I realized I had done what I had gone through in my mind a hundred times during the swap, figure out how it all would work in practice, I may try pulling pin and see what happens, but I do have a second pin closer to boat that holds the outdrive support bracket for transport, and I really wouldn't want the motor hooking on this one. and with the second pin in, it does give me a base line for full down, that's a know good position for starting out when accelerating to get boat on plane with the least amount of effort, so not a bad thing when ya remember to put shifter in gear to raise motor at the boat dock when trailering the boat :))))

Drop the LU and remove the reverse lock cams from the shift shaft (be careful that you don't pull out the shift shaft)
this allows you to set the tilt pin in any hole for proper operation. Grease the splines before assembly.
