I am looking at an evinrude 50hp that I will want to convert to tiller (currently remote). '

IF:
I can find a tiller bracket that will fit (bolt on)

Do I leave the red plug hanging and wire:
a netural safety
starter lead
kill switch (dead man)

Which should be located on the handle assembly?

Any corrections or ideas?

Re: Conversion of a remote to tiller.......

What year 50? I did this to my 90 hp. Most tiller handles will fit many different model years and HPs so you normally don't need to find one for the exact model and year you have, the throttle cable can be different though. You still need everything (key, choke, kill switch lanyard) that connects to the red plug, so just move those things to a place near where you sit so it's easy to use. You could mount them on the handle, but you may need to fabricate a bracket to do it.
