Is the transom hole a key-hole shape, or the earlier 16" roundish square hole?

I hole has been filled little rough with the glass but figure I can sand down and do some resin or glass over to make smooth the hole looks to big big sqaureish hole I assume from what I can see the inside IA complete looks smooth

If you had the big square hole, the boat had a stringer drive

Basically nothing related to that motor, drive, controls is really compatible with the SEI drive other than the short block.

The best conversion is to remove everything OMC and get a 1992 or newer Mercruiser long tail (motor and drive compete from pulley to prop)

It does require redoing the motor mounts, transom and stringers to match the Mercruiser/Volvo installations

You need much more than that to convert a stringer to SEI

If you had a stringer drive, there is no conversions,....
If you had a cobra dive, the Sei is possible,.....
But, you haven't said what you have to work with,....

This says it was a stringer drive

That means the motor and drive were left over 1984 parts. Not the 1985 and later cobra drive

Is the motor painted silver, or charcoal?

It's in storage but it's hole looks 16 inches kinda square but it's been filled with wood and fiberglass the only visible on outside of boat it's lil rough with the glass resin and mat but that's easy fix if motor can't be used boat is useless

You have a boat that had a stringer drive. The only thing usable is the block and heads

The paperwork says 86 beachcraft 192s
Boat manufactures use motors they have in the warehouse.

For example. GM quit building the 8.1 Big Block in 2008. Yet they were being installed in new boats as late as 2014

Your motor is a 1981-1984 vintage that had a stringer drive
