Hi guys,
First post on this forum but it looks like a good forum full of smart people! I am in the process of ordering controls and gauges from my dealer (I live remote WA) so i want to make sure that i get the parts right before ordering. I rang mercury support line but each time they give me slight variations on the parts numbers required. All i want to do is get new side controls and smartcraft gauges for 2008 optimax 225 (non-DTS). I have the motor just need everything between motor and controls/gauges (including). After calling them three times and checking parts on the net this is what i think I need:

QUICKSILVER Side Mount Remote Control-14 pin 2006 - 25- 250 HP - 881170A13

2 x Cables for controls - 877773A15

Mercury Smartcraft SC1000 TACH/SPEED single eng guages - 79-889223K30

CAN Data Harness - 879982T20

Can someone confirm that this is all i need and covers all wiring harness etc to connect to the motor??

Cheers

Hi Mike

I have posted a thread on this subject (how to install a smart craft system)

I have not seen where it is recommended to use that p/n cable (with two ressistors) with a junction box. I would use cable p/n 879981T20 (if you are sure 20ft will do) and then a termination ressistor in the juction box (p/n 859318T1) Also I can't find that p/n for the tach and speed gauges, make SURE you are ordering the KIT, it will come with the two gauges, one junction box, an air temp sensor, and a few weather caps (Mine was p/n 79-879899K07 (grey faced, black bezel). If you intend on having fuel dislayed on your gauges (you need it for fuel range etc...) or paddle wheel, for slow speed speedo, or troll control based on speed (trolling in swells) you will also need the harness p/n 859743T03, this can also connect to your injection oil tank (purchased seperatly with a sending unit built in, I can get you p/n) This harness plugs directly into your engine and then to the sensors, there is a slight possibility you will need a new fuel sender but I can verify the ressistance of yours if you post it. Hope this helps.

Oh ya, one more thing, not sure where you intend to buy these parts but try going on Ebay and search for the store "Tommyhabana" email him and ask for a quote for all the parts you want, he can get you anything merc, cheaper than a friend of mine who is a dealer. AWESOME TO DEAL WITH!!! that enire kit including 50$ shipping was @ 620$. over 1500$ from my dealer, over 1000$ from my friend.
