On my Bass 1990 Tracker TX-17, I'm replacing the original 1990 Johnson Tracker 40hp motor due to a bad cylinder with a 87 Mariner 40hp.

The two motors have different "motor end" conections so I know I need to replace the 11ft cables and have determined I need the teleflex 630 cables. The Mariner came with a Quicksilver shift box and extra long cables. I can use that box if need be. I'd really like to keep the original boat mounted Tracker Shift box. The ignition and choke should not be a problem to re-wire.

The shift box cable ends look very similar. The only area that may be a issue is the round black stops on the shift cable ends. Are those black stops adjustable ? or are they specific to the shift box and cable type. I

This is my 1st time changing out a shift box.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Control Box Help

The boxes and cables are different. If you're going with Mercury stick with all Mercury. Less problems.
