control box and starting boat

hey,

i have a 1980's 65 hp johnson and i just bought it. i tried starting it for the first time today and my dad for some reason moved the shifter all the way forward as it was not cranked and now it locked up. what is this and what do i do?

he probably forced it, open the control and see what is broke. i had a person this week break the shaft on the shifter.

how do i open it? loosen the screw that you use an atom wrench with? if it is broken he will pay not me for once
