Contouring gel coat

I have a 96 sea doo speedster with some damage of the front and ordered the " gelcote" that sea doo apparently uses. Any tips to contour the gel cote to the curves of the boat? I think I should have done in stages merp

You shouldn't really be "contouring" gel coat. Think of gel coat as simply the finishing colored paint on the surface. You need to repair everything first, then the gel coat goes on for the color.
