Re: Constant ads

Well I hate the ads too but this stuff ain't free and somebody has to pay the bills. Clicking an X is a very small price to pay for all the valuable information I have acquired here and I guarantee I have saved a ton of money with that information. I will roll with what ever decision is made.

X2. Hard to complain and threaten to leave the site when its a free service. Like others, this site has saved me THOUSANDS- its all about how you use it though...

Re: Constant ads

These things were just a bother the first time or two this morning when they popped up, but now, after having 10-15 of them popup and temporarily freeze my page...they're getting old. And to think I used to like Bill Dance.

Re: Constant ads

I understand the pop-ups are needed to pay the bills, and I really don't mind closing them out... but...

could we get a Victoria Secrets models pop-up intstead of ol' fat boy Bill Dance?:D

Re: Constant ads

We certainly understand and empathize with everyone on the inconvenience the ads cause. Unfortunately, the ads are necessary as they pay for a large portion of the operating costs of the Forums. We wish our Forums could be ad free, but that simply isn't feasible if we want to continue operating the Forums. Now, if we can get Bill Gates or Warren Buffett to sponsor the Forums, we could definitely be ad free! :)

Ayuh,....

There are on-goin' discussions 'tween the Mods, 'n Admins. 'bout the Issue...

I run firefox and adblock, I dont see any adds.

the fire fox and the add blocker are your answers guys.

as mentioned.....this is also a glitch and is being worked on....

these forums are growing huge...and it will cost big dollars to keep them open..... no body wants to pay a user fee to be on an internet forum (however,,,,,, im certain, those that have been here a long time would gladly throw in a few dollars.... this site just has soo much to offer)

the mods.....being un paid forum members, are doing everything they can to make this site as friendly for you as they can.
these guys really work.....very very hard.... fighting for you....

the admin and the mods are doing everything they can to keep this site user freindly for you,,,,,,and totally different than any other common forum where attack and put down is the norm

Re: Constant ads

What I'm hearing, and agree with, is that the ads on the side, or top are happily accepted. But the pop-ups suck and bog down my machine. Pop ups are historically known to contain malicious software and appear to make a site questionable.

Your customers are telling you they don't like these pop-up ads and purposely will not frequent those advertisers sites. For this reason I think you are doing a dis-service to those you are selling the ads to. Annoying your customers and not drawing a return for your advertisers sounds like a poorly thought out business plan.

BTW, I am a paying member of multiple internet sites that have quality information to be gained. Very likely I would pay a fair price to gain admission to this one.

Re: Constant ads

Adding *.servicesiboats.com to your restricted sites list takes care of the problem ;)

I don't mind the ads all that much, I recognise the light bill has to be paid. No problem.

But, that new one that comes flying accross the middle of the screen at random times?? Is that really necessary?
