I found a restored Texas Maid Fiesta on Craigslist and I am seriously considering buying it tomorrow, is there anything I absolutely ought to know about these boats prior to purchasing? I am not an experienced boater, but it isn't my first rodeo either. Mainly looking to fish and spend leisurely time on the lake with my family. Thanks!

The ones I've seen on here have been great boats. Very cool. If there aren't any visible cracks or serious corrosion, go for it!

bought it, everything looks great, I will post some pics soon. Couple of questions, first I need a marine battery, suggestions? It only runs the motor and running lights, though there is a cigarette lighter as well, so i guess I could run other things. Do I need a battery box, or do I just need to be sure to take the battery out when not in use? Also, do I need to buy a trickle charger? How do I recharge my battery? And of course anything else you think I need to know as a novice boater before I try to take it out sometime in the next two weeks. Thanks guys!

That motor should have a charging system I would think. I would buy a marine starting battery. If the charging system is working, you shouldn't have to put in on a charger at home.

okay, I was wondering about that, so how would I know if it does or not, other than by just having it die on me in the middle of the lake? Any other suggestions for items needed upon just starting out as a boater. I need a good life vest for my 2.5 year old too. All suggestions are welcomed! Thanks for your help!
