Have you thought about upgrading the vehicle to have more towing capacity?

Where will you primarily be boating, lakes?

I agree the first boat is to much risk for the money knowing you have to travel 400 miles to look at it.

No kids, 51 years old. Looking for something fun and fairly fast for occasional use. Skiing required, wakeboarding optional but a nice to have. I'm about 25 miles SE of Denver. The tow capacity on my vehicle is 3500 so that's a consideration in boat.

I don't mind traveling a bit to find the right boat. Say a 500 mile radius from Denver. I'd like to keep the boat under $10k.

Thanks for your insight!

Ok, this brings up more questions for me! Please note, I am just trying to understand, so bare with me. Your 51, no kids, are you married?

Do you ski, or is it to let other people ski?

Do you want comfort for hanging out on the water or a speed demon that just races to one place to the other? Like cruising poker runs and going to the on the water watering holes.

How many passengers do you think you will usually have?

How big of a person are you? I know that sounds funny and maybe rude, but there is a reason I ask. :)

The single or married question is because if you are dating, you may want something different than just a ski boat, something with comfort and maybe something you can spend a whole weekend on.

If your married you may want some comfort features as well, requiring a larger boat sometimes.

There are a ton of options when talking 10k compared to 6k. I also agree, look at boats all the way up to 15k, you will find many motivated buyers around the country right now.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand your situation, what your needs are verses what your wants are.

I myself am a little different, as I get older, I want more comfort than something to ski behind.

Hope your not just looking at one boat! Take your time and the right boat will find you. There are ALOT of boats for sale in that area. I posted just a few in the link above but saw many up to 15k worth a look at.

That being said, good luck with the one your looking at, is it one of the two you posted?

Thanks MUCH for all the input and to Lipp for taking a couple of hours out of his day to help me check out the boat. Lipp answered the questions correctly. I really like the size, looks, and features of the 2002 Crownline 202. 180 hours, 5.0 MPI (260hp), bimini top, captains call, docking lights, no tears in vinyl, bow and main area snap on covers, no significant beaching scrapes. $16k is a bit more than I was looking for but doable.

For the tow vehicle, I've checked around and it doesn't look like any rental car companies allow towing, so... vehicle upgrade time.

I'm considering the boat name "Boats, Bikes, and Babes" Reflects three of my interests. I was thinking about 762 NATO, but thought that might send the wrong message.. lol.
