Connecting the tach

There's a tach in the dash of our 1960s Glaspar, powered by an Evinrude 1960 75 HP. How do we connect the tach?

Need to know what kind of tach it is, original or aftermarket. And look at the back of the tach, is there a dial to set poles/pulses.

You may connect the tach to the distributor. Hopefully it is the correct tach. Do you have the battery power ign system or the magneto-powered ign system? Is the motor original to the boat?

Magneto system. I think the tach is an orig. Will check on Wednesday. So where on the distributor do I connect the tach?

I believe there is only one external connection on the distributor, on the "points" side of the coil. Try it.
