Connecting Rod orientation.

Hi there,

I am rebuilding a 2002 75 hp Mercury. I took lots of photos as to where things go, but the piston orientaion pics came out blurred. I thought the numbers (646-818846) were facing up. (towards the flywheel) any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can usually look at the piston skirt for clues as to porting. There will be signs of exhaust gas on the side of the exhaust port. If installing new pistons, I wouldn't trust the stamped numbers. They could easily be different than the original pistons. Even if they are OEM parts.
