I am rebuilding a 1995 2 barrel mercarb. The instruction in the repair kit say to measure from a different spot on the float than what the repair manual says. On the repair kit it says to measure from(if the air horn is turn upside down) from the highest dot on the float to the gasket...The repair manual says the to measure from lowest dot on the float to the gasket. Which is correct?

...I would install as per the repair kit instructions as the new needle/seat may have a slightly different installation height as the original and/or the gasket may be of a different thickness. :)

The difference is about a quarter of an inch for the 2 different diagrams and the new gasket and spring needle are exactly the same as the original. I don't want to put it together until I figure which one is right. Thanks

The pieces line up the same so I really cant go by the old pieces. Im not sure the float was adjusted wrong...I had to rebuild because of all the junk in the carb. Thanks

I agree with Eddie - definitely follow the literature that came with the kit.

...in that case I'd reassemble the carb's float using the old pieces, measure the float height, re-reassemble the carb with the new pieces and compare to both specs. The closes is your winner !!!! :)

99.9% of the time, the correct float adjustment makes the float level.

Alright here goes my car a 3310-805924A2 the setting for the float level is 3/8 for a solid needle and 9/16 for the spring -needle, and the float drop is 1-1/32 theses measurements are taken from the gasket in place to the toe(dot) of the float. If you have your carb number I can give you the correct measurements. I went through h--l getting this info when I needed to rebuild my cab a year ago when the I.D tag was missing. I was able to get all the mercarb info when I bought a universal rebuild kit via aftermarketmarine.com it's in the kit and it works on all mercarb 2 brrls. hope this helps
