Cone Clutch King Cobra Replacement Possibilities

Hello everyone,

I just picked up a 1992 Chris Craft 322 with twin OMC 5.7s and Cone Clutch KC outdrives.

I thought I did my research and was under the impression that the outdrives could be swapped for Volvo DP drives but it seems only the Dog Ring KC drive can be swapped?

is that accurate and if so what are the options if the drives need repairs. From what it sounds like they’re nearly impossible to get parts for.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... I believe the Volvo SX will swap with only the late model Cobra drives, 'n nothin' swaps with the King Cobras,....

That’s my understanding. Sad really because this boat is absolutely beautiful and I sure as hell don’t have the coin to repower anytime soon. I’ll have to convert the impeller next season then I’m going to have to sell her.
