1 Piston ring still stuck on bottom cylinder, also walls are pretty scratched up, top cylinder reads 90 bottom went up from 35 to 60. now what? wait for last ring to free up?. is it worth takeing pistons out and reboreing cylinders and moveing up piston size? is that even possible on this motor ( 1955 johnson 25 hp ) I got the motor for free but how much trouble is all of this worth? just wanted something to get me out to the BIG fish..Im still working with it...THanks

well i think it's time to parts ways. sell off the lower unit, carbs, flywheel, timing plate etc. on ebay. if you can find oversized to fit, and the cost, to do it. doesn't seem feasible to me. and i do my best to keep the old ones running. that's my opinion, let's hear others before you ditch it.

I agree. Sell off all the good parts that are on the motor and be done with it. By the time you figure in cost of having he block bored, the oversize pistons (if you can find them), pretty much a whole teardown and rebuild. I think your better off to not start putting money in that motor, but to look for another motor that's in pretty decent condition. I think in the long run you will come out ahead by doing it this way. Well what's everyone else think?
