Re: Compression Results- Help

My guess is the guys are stearing you in the right direction. Yes odds are high that the manifolds are bad, and odds are high that you have a burnt valve do to these manifolds allowing water migration in the cylinder. Before I hydralock a motor and bend a connecting rod I would replace them. OMC use to use log style manifolds on my old 1969 drive but I haven't seen many modern drives that still uses them. Maybe with a little plumbing change you could retrofit a riser style maniflod and worse case scenerio bring the exhaust straight out the back without routing through stern drive????? If you squirt a teaspoon of oil in the cylinder that has the lowest compr. and it doesn't rise significanlty then you know its valves. Also a leak down test will work even better. you will hear or feel the air comming out of the crankcase or carb to determine which area is at fault. Any go fast boys that race will have the air adapter for this test it is really easy to perform. Loooks like you needed something to do this winter anyway heheheheehehehehehehehhehehe
