I have a 1997 454 Mag MPI that is running 10-15 degrees warmer than usual. Also, compression is down approx. 20 Ibs in one cylinder. I had the valve head of the affected cylinder checked and replaced head gaskets with no change. I've already replaced sea water pump and t'stat. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Compression and overheating

I saw you had zero replies, so I thot I would take a stab at it.
It might be corrosion inside the block somewhere. Check the raw water intake also for obstruction. The low compression on the one cylinder is an indication of where the overheat problem is likely to be found.
a corroded heat exchanger maybee?
