Complete motor and drive swapping ??

Is it possible to swap a 225 volvo Penta 275 drive from a 1988? bayliner cierra into a 1988? wellcraft 192 classic that has a 165hp mercrusier alpha one ?? Is it possible to bolt up the volvo penta motor with the alpha one drive ? thanks,

Nope. Too many things different. Just for starters, the gear ratio would be wrong, the exhaust tube attached to the gimbal housing would have to be replaced with one for a V8. The bolt patters may not line up. Then you have different motor mounts, wrong exhaust manifolds and risers, possibly no stringers to mount the V8 on. The motor box may not be big enough to go over the engine, no flywheel housing for the V8, or coupler, etc. That's just the most obvious problems.

The 225 motor itself would bolt up to the merc bell housing but thats about all.Flywheel/couplers etc NO!!!!
If you wanted to do a complete swap then the transom would need work.Jerry

Not exactly. The 165 he has is a newer 470 (4 cyl), not the IL6 6 cylinder. And not a Chevy bellhousing.

Ayuh,.....

Transplanting Complete drivelines between hulls might require some plywood,+ fiberglass,...

Mixing,+ Matching Merc.s, Volvos,+/ or OMCs just isn't worth the effort to create a Mongrel...
