Compatibility of controls from one brand to another..

will omc controls work with other brands of engines? if so which ones?

Also will the steering cables interchange between say a OMC and Mariner?

Steering yes - with the exception perhaps of the link arm. Control boxes generally are not compatible for two reasons in particular. 1) the electrical harness is different (as in the plugs don't match up and the wiring is not the same). 2) some engines require pushing the throttle linkage on the engine to increase speed while others require pulling the linkage. In addition, the amount of "throw" in the control box is not the same and it cannot be adjusted to match the other engine.
