Comparison shopping! Mini Rant.

Thought yu'd all get a kick out of this. I ran short of 2 part foam before I'd gotten my gas tank foamed in. I wanted to get that done this weekend so I called **composites to see how much it would cost to send out quart each of A and B, UPS second day air.<br /><br />The foam cost 17.50 for the two quart pack and 2nd day air was 25.00. Hmmmmm, I says to my self, I'll call locally and see what I can get it for.<br /><br />I called ********world and they didn't carry foam. I called **** marine and they wanted, now get this, $87.50 for the 2 part, 2lb, 2 quart package. <br /><br />Now I don't usually rub price differences in a vendors face. If a price is not to my liking I just say thank you and move on. Well in this instance I stuttered and stammered and almost apologetically said, "you've got to be kidding" I can buy that same thing online for 17.50 plus freight. I said I would expect to pay a premium to buy it off your shelf but x's 5 goes beyond the pale.<br /><br />His reply was "we are trying to lower our prices". I said good luck, you've got some to go, thank you very much"

Sounds like they are not trying very hard to lower their prices or else they could order from where you did, mark it up 100% and still make good money. I'm sure to have it that day you would have paid double but I can't blame you for not paying five times.

I did manage to find it locally fireman, and I did pay nearly double ($29.95) and didn't complain. That's what I would have expected from a big outfit like ****marine.

Heck, $29 is still less expensive than overnighting it. I don't blame you, I hate trying to finish something just to have to order something and wait another week. It is frustrating...
