I just purchased an outboard from someone on Ebay who won't ship it. I can't get anyone to tell me good companies to try to get quotes from for shipping. I need them to build a crate to put it in. It's got a little stand its on but it's not good for across the country shipping.

Anyone know of any good companies to try?

Likely no one will crate it & ship it

Fastenal used to take outboards as freight, store to store, so you'd have to pick it up from a Fastenal.

Try a haul wanted ad at Yesterday's Tractor

Find an iBoats member that is near by, can inspect, build a crate, etc. then offer beer money.

I did that with body parts once.

I had an outboard powerhead shipped to me by one of those rebuilders here on iBoats. I am not sure who did the crating, but the shipping was by one of the larger commercial shippers. DHL maybe? I remember it cost $70 for shipping of the powerhead to me and the core return, 15 years ago, which I thought a bargain.

Have you contacted UPS?
They say they can package up to 150 pounds and 108 inch in length

I don't know about building a create but I had my Yamaha F150 shipped from Florida to California by UPS.

Gee, I had $2000 of ferrites shipped overnight to the west coast, in a snow storm, on the east coast, on a Friday at 3PM, were the ferrites were located. I think it was $3K for the shipping, but the program was at stake, so the price was flexible. This was well before the Amazon model. Shipping is real good in the US, even back in the 90's..
