Re: comand center remote control

The Power Pilot and Control Center controls are from the mid-seventies. They have a leatherette top on them and an allen screw in the center of the face of the control handle. Is that what you have?

If not, and you have a standard side mount control, you have to drive the handle out.

Support the remote face down on on blocks so that the handle hangs free.

Put the allen head screw back in the center of the handle at the rear and loosen it three complete 360 degree turns. The green dot in the photo is the spot. The handle should be in neutral.

Insert a punch in the center of the allen head and tap with a soft mallet to disengage the handle splines from the hub splines.

Remove the allen head screw and then the handle.

Re: comand center remote control

thank you for answering my post, sir.no leatherette top on this unit, all white metal.on front it says,Command center.no Allen screw,or any other kind on face of control handle,or front of box for that matter.after opening unit up,splitting it in two halves, the half with the control handle has a large Allen head screw on the inside of box,i removed it,of course figuring the handle would come off on other side.guess what?not the case.i do have exploded view of this remote giving part names etc.but no instructions for dis assembly:(.thank you again for your kind assistance.Janis

Re: comand center remote control

This thread answered some of my problems, but my control was set up to run on the port side and i need to switch it to the starboard side as well as replace the cables that came with it(14.6')with shorter 11.8'.This is on a 75HP Johnson.
