That's cool, Sam. My wife is a diehard sports fan. She is a screamer, but today she lost her voice, so the games we watched together she whispered ... Kinda funny!

I hope she gets the voice back soon. It is a bit fun to have a wife that enjoys the games or Girlfriend for those not married.

Lol. I didn't know Tam was such a diehard fan. Good for her! A little bird mentioned that Penn State beat the Badgers...

OSU and Michigan was a wild one. Michigan almost pulled it off.

The Alabama game was crazy. It's almost like Alabama saw the Auburn guy running after the missed kick and thought, "what's he running for? "Maybe" we should run after him".

I wonder if Auburn will leap frog OSU for the Championship game? I think Auburn was ranked 4th before today.

UCLA crushed USC. I know one member, at least, who is happy......

Probably the best college football day all season....... Entertaining for sure.......

Just got home from N MN and Thanksgiving with the family........

Re: College Football Thread?

I'm not a big college football fan and I watched more hours today than I watched the entire season. I saved the best for last. We got to watch some great ball, no matter who you rooted for. Like aspeck said earlier - Maybe no SEC team in the BCS Championship game.

Yep!

Didn't get to watch it because I was sitting at a campfire in Arizona but was getting some updates via text messages.

No Alabama unless both OSU and Auburn lose.

Auburn has to be the luckiest team on this planet based on how they won the last 2 games!

This is true but I guess sometimes it's better to be lucky than good ..:D

Actually I think Bama was out-coached in the last second of the game. Sabin treated the play as a field goal attempt and Malzahn treated it as a punt and set up for it.

Kinda sucks that there are Alabama fans sending the original Alabama place kicker death threats.

I agree. But there's not much else to get excited about in that state other than the game. I don't know who will play Florida State for all the marbles but if its OSU it won't be much of a game. Alabama would be a much better match. They did everything they could to loose that game. By the way you heard it here, all the stuff you are hearing about the FSU quarterback is not true. Not even close. And yes it is possible that there could not be in SEC team this year. OSU does not belong in that game. Maybe Auburn or Alabama.

Nebraska, Tenn, Miami, Michigan, Penn, Gators have all lost a lot of gas the last couple of years.

Re: College Football Thread?

I'm not an Alabama, Auburn or SEC fan but I viewed this elsewhere and thought I'd share it here.

The Bammer Night Before Christmas:

‘Twas the night after Auburn
and all through the land,
not a “Roll Tide” was uttered
by a Crimson Tide fan.
-
They used to be boisterous,
they used to be loud,
they used to be boastful,
and y and proud.
-
But they lost all their swagger,
they lost all their swing.
For one little second
had changed everything.
-
The score it was even.
The clock had run dry.
When Nicholas Saban
then started to cry.
-
He demanded a second
be put on the clock.
The worse that could happen?
A miss or a block.
-
But fate it is fickle,
and greed has a price,
and what happened next
just wasn't too nice.
-
The previous kicks,
wide left and wide right.
So he put in a rookie,
'twas not very bright.
-
The kick was a boomer
of 56 yards,
but the extra yard needed
was not in the cards.
-
And back in the end zone
a lone Tiger stood.
He caught that ol’ football,
he caught it real good.
-
He started to run,
he heard the cheers grow.
The Crimson Tide offense?
Too fat and too slow.
-
One hundred and nine
he ran for a score.
If needed he could have
run one hundred more
-
The crowd it erupted
while storming the field.
The Crimson Tide’s season
was settled and sealed.
-
A cry of “War Eagle”
soon echoed the plain.
Nick Saban’s expression
was one of pure pain.
-
And up in Ohio
they shouted "Go Bucks"
It gave hope to many
except Gators and Ducks.
-
And in Tuscaloosa
you could hear a pin drop.
And in Tallahassee
a tomahawk chop.
-
For the night after Auburn
the Tide does not roll.
The new boss in town
wears garnet and gold.

Re: College Football Thread?

SEC and Big10 need to start playing 9 conference games like the PAC12 does and SEC needs to stop playing patsies in the next to final week of the season although Florida did lose to one of those patsies. Will be better with the 4 team playoffs next year and way better when it expands to 8 or 16.

FSU has not been tested yet at all. Clemson is not that good and they are the best team they have played. Not saying OSU has been tested either so I think the outcome of that matchup is a toss up.

Auburn barely beat a weak Pac12 Washington State in the beginning of the season. This shows that only playing teams within your conference doesn't give you a good idea how good you are. SEC really only has 4 premier teams and the rest are pretty so so.

I am hoping Missouri beats Auburn. I think that is very possible. Missouri is very good. If OSU also falters, don't see why Missouri wouldn't leap frog Alabama for NC game. How could you not put the winner of the SEC conference title game ahead of a team that didn't even win their own division?

Re: College Football Thread?

For those that say OSU doesn't belong in the championship game, well, I am NOT an OSU fan, but I think they have more right than the others. They haven't lost for 24 games, I think it is. The knock against them is they seem to play down to their competition. But they have won blow outs, close games, and come from behind games. They have faced several different scenarios and have come out on top each time. To say that FSU is going to blow them out of the water is, well, school pride talking. Could it happen? Yes! But Ohio State could blow FSU out of the water. Games can turn in 1 second ... just ask Nick Saban!

I agree. Neither team has really shown what they can do against good competition since each of their conferences are so weak.

Both are undefeated so they deserve to be playing as the system stands right now.

Re: College Football Thread?

The OSU that just squeaked by UM? In the Championship game? They are not Championship material IMHO. Their conf is WAY too weak. Wanna see a blow out? Pit OSU against AL. The tide would roll all over those nuts easily.

We saw the Championship game on Sat. IMHO and AU took it, much to Saban's chagrin.
I didn't have a dog in the fight, but it was fun to watch em slug it out!

Re: College Football Thread?

I have to agree neither team has had much competition. But FSU has not squeaked a game all year. And if you watched they pulled their starters in most games and still had a blowout. I think the field goal kicker is arguably the best in the country.

No I don't think OSU stands a chance. Its not team pride. Although I am a fan. But I think Alabama would have been the real game against FSU. Yea Auburn won and played their hearts out and Bama did everything they could to loose that game.

So a friend walked into a small store in Alabama. He bought some souvenirs from Auburn and Alabama. The lady behind the counter asked him what he was going to do with them. He said he was going to give them to family members. She looked at him very serious and told how sorry he came from a split family.
