I am having trouble starting my 93 90HP 4-cylinder Evinrude Motor.

The first time out this season it would not start at the dock. After about five minutes of periodic cranking the motor while choked it started. We left it idle for a few minutes to warm, shut it off and then it started right back up. After cruising the lake for about a half hour we shut it off and it started back up again. We then shut it down for about an hour.

Again when trying to start with the now cooled engine it did not start. We verify we had clean, sparking spark plugs and fuel flow throught he filter to the carb.

After about an hour it finally started. We motored back to shore, shut it down and it restarted no problem!!!

Any ideas what I can do to to eliminate the cold start problem????

Thanks

Re: Cold Start

Does the primer ball go soft when it's cold?
It could be leaking down. A tiny hole in the fuel line or a leaking fitting will cause that. When it's acts-up, see if you can pump the primer. If you can squeze any at all, this is the cause.
