Hi guys

New to the site, well been reading here for a while but only just joined. I have only just brought my first boat.

Anyways my question, did a test on my coils using multimeter. 2 came up with constant 288 while the other had a reading all over the place from 1550 to 1980. Being new to boats I have know idea what these readings mean. I'm guessing one coil is just about dead?

Motor is a 74 ( I think ) 70hp 2 stroke

Cheers

Re: Coils

Are those readings on the primary or secondary, and are they ohms, k-ohms, or what?

Whatever, the one that varies has a poor connection somewhere. Could be the wire terminal ends, an internal break in the winding. or a faulty meter probe connection to the coil.
