Re: Coast Guard Capacity Plate

Ezmobee, my bow structure is made out of 3/4 plywood with some 1/2 stiffners glued and screwed. Hopefully that will hold up.

Mine is 1/2" and was not well supported. Yours will be fine.

Any idea what your top speed is with the 115?

Not sure what top speed is yet. There is quite a bit of ice in the river in the form of ice cube size up to small bergs about 8' to 10' square by as much as 30" thick while much of the river is navigable we still have to be pretty careful. Also its my first boat with trim and tilt so not sure how to adjust for top performance. I will work on that as the river clears up. Any advice would be appreciated.

Start with the motor trimmed all the way down (in). Once you get up on plane, trim up (out) just until the motor starts to ventilate and then trim back in a smidge. Assuming you're full throttle at this point, you're probably at your max speed. Now, if the boat starts porpoising, you trim in a bit 'til it stops.

Re: Coast Guard Capacity Plate

Ezmobee thanks for the info, I'll give that a try.

Dozer II, I read the "trim your boat" article. Very informative. Thanks for that. After reading the article I thought that maybe a trim gauge would be helpful so I could have a visual as I'm learning. Also I reread your post from the 25th that said you might have a tach your willing to part with. Let me know what gauges you have and how much you want for them including postage.

Spent yesterday on the river again. Messed with the trim a little bit, felt the steering go "light" as per the article but to tie this back into a USCG capacity thread. How many of these pictured below can I have in the boat and still be within the weight capacity of my boat?

Wicked nice fish Tman, I'm looking for the box with the gauges in it, the Admiral cleaned the basement so they are not where I left them.

Thanks Dozer, I luck into one every now and then. There's no hurry on those gauges. If you happen to come across them, let me know.
