I bought a1979 Wellcraft and the valve covers say counterclockwise. It is an 898 305 Chevy. I would like to replace this with a 350 chevy but I don't know if it is really counterclockwise. The motor is torn down so how do I tell? Looking at the front of the motor the dipstick is on the right hand side and the starter is on the left hand side in back like a clockwise rotation. Could this motor have been replaced with a clockwise motor??? What is involved in changing it to clockwise if it is counter cw.
