Hey guys

I have a light build up of crud in my cylinder head. It was worse but vinegar got most of it, and left abit in there. I want to get the rest and was thinking about CLR 50/50. I don't know if the rest of this crud is even gonna bother cooling in that area but I would like to get it all out.

BTW what metal is this made out of? CLR says no to aluminium 'but' Iv'e seen people do a diluted mix and don't let it sit for more than 1 or 2 minutes and it didn't hurt aluminum.

Thanks,

If you have a repair shop close by, see if they have
a glass bead blaster. (sand blaster)
It is aluminum. Be carful with any harsh chemicals.:)

It is aluminum. Bead blast lightly as Big Flop suggests.

Hello

Well Thanks guys for the input. I don't wanna spend money for a shop to do 5mins to 15mins worth of work and get hit for a hourly fee plus gas getting there. You think its still bad enuff or should I just leave it? Is there any cheaper ways of getting it done?

I wish I had gotten a compressor and the sand blaster attachment I was planning on getting.

Thanks,
DamianJP

Hit what you can with a small wire wheel in a drill & run it.
Does not look to bad now.

Clean it all out now while you have it apart, shortcuts now can lead to boat trips cut short later, be sure to clean the mating surface as well, it looks about due.
