Re: Cleaning a flame arrester

Moxie<br />Good question. I do not know if there is a right answer but here is what I do. Remove flame arester take it out of boat. Get a few rags and wipe all I can from outside. After that I get some fuel and a oil pan and a light paint brush brush all the way around. Blow it out from outside with an air comperssor. Repeate all a second time then lay it out is sun until gas smell goes away install back on boat.

Carb cleaner works well too, you can buy a can at your local autoparts place, The pressure of the spray helps to flush all the oil film and dust that collects on the flame arrester. Drys quick too so you can get out boating sooner. If you dont want to mess with flamables good old boat soap and hot water works too, just like washing that greasy frying pan. :)
