clattering prop

my 2002 Yahama f115 four stroke makes a clattering noise when I spin the prop by hand. I think the sound is coming from the lower unit. What should i do?

Have you tried shifting the gears to be sure that lower unit is in neutral?

No, I have not tried that. I will try this tonight, thank you.

If it's not fully in neutral, it can make some noise like you describe...Good Luck!
