Re: Clarification Please - Mods

QC, you know as well as I do that there are 3 main things that will start "fights" quicker than anything.
Politics, religion, and bashing or flaming other members and we are going to stop that.
Sorry, maybe someone else can explain it better.
I never was to good with words.

Yall, this is a BOATING forum. I am sure the majority of yall came here, seeking info on something pertaining to BOATING. I am sure there are political forums, that are always seeking new members. The Dockside chat was made, so that folks could socialize, not argue. Otherwise, they woulda named it dockside debate. The rules have been set, lets not fight it so much, that the whole forum gets deleted, so we still can have some of the clean and friendly discussions, and jokes. Yall complain about it now, but would really hate it, could you only talk about boat problems and not other things.

Mr. Olson, with all due respect, you have no idea how things are done on these forums.
Yes, there is the man that can pull the plug at anytime he wishes, but 99% of the stuff that is done here is done by us, The Mod Team.
7 of us that butt our heads together to come up with a plan and present it to the main man to approve.
After that we implement it(Changes).

This was not something that just got throwed out there and was done.
We worked on this for more than a week trying to figure out what we were going to do.
The DC area was getting way out of hand.
Again, with all due respect.

I'm not sure what gives you the impression that I don't understand how the forum works. What you've described is essentially how most internet forums work. I know that you're doing what the site owner and the Moderators feel is right, but is it in the best interest of the site or just easier than actaully moderating the forum? That's where we disagree. You're doing what is easy and I'd rather you did what is right. You don't have to care about what my opinion is, but you do and you should because you know I'm not alone in that opinon.

Again, with all due respect - run the forum, don't eliminate it.

been around long enough that i feel i can offer my thoughts.... don't worry guys, this has happened plenty of times in the past. the forum rules will change and change again. heck, the name of the forum will change (still like ntdwb better). new mods will be made, old mods will go. members will come, members will stay, and some will leave for good. and the most factual thing is that a post debating the rules of the forum will always be active.

the 14 year old member with the best advice, we might learn something from the younger members. He, also has one heck of a lot of knowledge about boats and motors. thanks, Bassboy1.

I think it too bad. As one who specifically and consciously tried to keep my end of the discussions civil, while being on the recieving end of much of the alleged venom from paticipants and moderators alike, I have to admit I was puzzled by the "out of control" description.

Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted. Thanks.

Sorry, gentlemen. This thread has become too much like a forbidden topic.

If you have questions, comments, suggestions or complaints about the management or moderation of the forum direct them to iboats management. Do not open discussion on the forum.
