I can't for the life of my get this flywheel off, I have used pb blaster for two days, used heat, the motor is currently hanging by the fly wheel. Wacked the bolt hundreds of times and it isn't budging. Wedged a piece of wood under the flywheel and did that working around the fly wheel...nada. Am I missing something?

My flywheel doesn't have flywheel puller bolt holes, I guess my next move is to try and tap holes in the flywheel to try and get it off with a puller?

The flywheel is toast, spiderweb cracks everywhere.

No need to use heat or PB blaster.--Use the correct puller.------Drill / tap those 3 holes and it should pop off.-----hopefully you have not damaged the coils.

The way the flywheel was removed....beating, prying, heat....may have warped or damaged it.....may need to get a new one anyway. A damaged flywheel can "grenade".....

No coils or wires melted.

There was no beating, prying or heating of the actual flywheel. I heated the drive shaft which protrudes about 3 inches above the flywheel, heated it for about 40 seconds and heated it from the farthest point from the flywheel. I handled the flywheel within seconds after it released and it wasn't even warm.

I did wedge a soft piece of pine under the flywheel while wacking the top of the drive shaft, I have seen youtube videos of others doing it this way. The pine gave up pretty quick to the flywheel teeth.

"There was no beating, prying or heating of the actual flywheel. " You may be ok then....lots of bad techniques are used on youtube.....love to read the comments at the end....can't understand why some of them set themselves up for the abuse that is sure to follow....lol

Absolutely, you can put me in that camp for prior pulling fails. I have a mtd mower that is 40 years old, still runs like a champ, had to pull the gas tank, removing the wheel hub from the axle was a B. I built a homemade puller out of angle iron, backed the hub bolt out about an inch and used that as the pressure point, my angle iron that i built the puller out of completely bent and the threads on the hub bolt were sheered smooth. Fun stuff. Eventually got it off with two pieces of angle iron welded into a U shape and had to tap the axle shaft afterward. Fun stuff.

Hitting the crank is a bad thing on motors with ball bearing main crank bearings as you hammer the balls on the race and can dent them and hasten failure.

Having the correct high quality puller makes the job a lot easier.....no need to beat anything with a hammer, maybe a couple licks on the puller bolt to break it free.

Unfortunately the puller bolt is attached to the crankshaft rather solidly.
You are correct about that sir....no doubt. When I said "a couple licks" I didn't mean a merciless beatdown on the puller bolt....the few times I have removed flywheels they came off just using the puller, no hammer. I don't have my factory manual here right now, but IIRC it mentions striking the puller bolt to help break it free....will have to look it up and see. But, yeah....best not to beat on the crank like that for sure.

FWIW.....this is from my Chrysler factory manual. It clearly states to hit the puller bolt with a hammer....but not too hard, just a "lick"....lol.
