Chrysler 70HP mod 707HE "Gen" wire

Hi,<br /><br />Seeking advice from the experienced hands here ..... I want to fit a charge indicator to the abovementioned model.<br /><br />The terminal block has a wire marked "Gen" that comes from the A/C side of the regulator. Is this intended for a charge indicator light or an ammeter? If either, (or something else) can people suggest the correct method of connection for a charge indicator ( or I would prefer an ammeter.)<br /><br />Thanks & kind regards for any assistance,<br />Gary.

Hello Aussie and welcome to Iboats. Hopefully someone else can chime in here. According to the Clymer manual the generator you are mentioning should be a purple wire coming from the rectifier to the ignition harness. The book is pretty vauge on the purpose of this however I believe it may be for AC lighting on the boat when the motor is running. If this is rectified DC you will still see AC on the line but should be able to read DC as well. If you can read DC you should be able to hook up a dc meter so you have a volt meter on your dash board. When voltage is above 13 volts you are charging. Here again I am going off the manual with no previous experience with that motor. Good luck
