I bought engine with eci not working and do not know if engine is any good or not as i have nver heard it run. I read on this forum on how a car eci might be used but it did not give all information, any help would be greatfull.

Der, you need to determine if the motor has no spark or if it does. Try a shot of 2 cycle mix, from a spray bottle, directly into the carb. Make sure the ignition is not grounded (it is when key is off, or lanyard switch has been yanked-out).

If it sputters, chances are good, the ignition is ok. If you know for fact that the CD is bad, I would try ebay for a used module.
Retrofitting is not recommended, as the ignition potential and heat range will vary greatly. This could cause iether 'holy piston syndrome'(too hot), or insufficiant fuel burn-off (too cool), causing lots of surplus carbon, and port clogging.
But yes, it has been done by a briliant gentleman who went by "Schematic". He is rare on iboats these days, as am I. He also was known for picking-out the dialectric sealer in CD packs, and replacing components to get them going again...Somewhat ecentric, but then, most geniuses are :D

Re: Chrysler 55 eci

Thank you for reply I checked out the ignition switch and found it to be faulty, it was earthing out the engine eci hence no spark. It was only when I disconnected all the wires and turned over engine by crossing out the starter that I noticed that I had a spark. I then traced the problem to ignition. I replaced it with a car ignition and put push button to stop it. A bit confusing using a push button to stop it but it works.
