They started with the 2 piece drive shaft and it was a 1 piece gear case in 1989 or 1990 when it was the Force brand.
A Chrysler 3-4 cylinder gear case would not fit to a Force 3-4 cylinder engine from 1987 and up.
The 1 piece gear case came at the 3-4 cylinder engines during Chrysler brand in 1978-79 I believe.

Not real sure what the motor is because I'm unable to find the casting number and the serial number plate was removed. Its a long shaft motor and looking up the head part number 631995 and it comes on 125HP and 1987 to 1988 motors.

Measured the shafts for the 105 and 125 and they are the same diameter. Would be easier to use the 105 leg then the other and is should work. Draw backs is finding a prop (as mentioned before) and if the 105 (really 90HP) gear case can handle the high HP?

Have checked from your pics and the 105Hp is prior 1977 as it has the 2 piece LU and the 125Hp is from between 1983-1986.
In 1987 Force changed the color from white to dark blue/black and the hood and lower cowl was changed too.

Your 125Hp power head will fit to the 105Hp leg and vice versa but the lower units will not fit to swap.
The 125Hp LU will not fit the 105Hp leg and vice versa.

Sorry but it reads like they will but they won't :noidea:

Sorry, but why?
The bolt pattern for the power head to the leg should be the same.
What is the different that cause it not to fit?

I just didn't understand fully what you are saying

Both motors bolt pattern is the same so I agree either motor will bolt either leg. After that I didn't understand what else would not work.

Okey I will try to clarify, a 1 piece gear case would not fit a leg from a 2 piece LU engine.
A power head from a Chrysler or Force would fit all mid legs up until 1999 I believe.
2 piece gear case LU would not fit a 1 piece gear case LU mid leg.
The 1 piece LU came in 1978 at all 3-4 cylinder Chrysler (not 100% sure).

2 piece drive shaft came in 1989 or 1990 at the Force brand.
Hope you understand.

Picked up a 120 and 140 hp motors, and both are 20 inch shafts, power trim. The 120 has old style leg and the 140 has new style. The 120 has a fuel filter and pump attached to the motor, and the 140 has 2 fuel pumps in series.Slide6.JPGSlide7.JPG
