. . .

Of course, with Halloween about 2 weeks away, and you are looking for a costume, you will probably have to dress up as Santa Claus :D

I don't understand why they don't just leave those displays up year round? Ever notice in the clothing department you have to buy your clothes out of season too. You know Looking for a coat in December or January, "Oh sorry sir we have our spring display up now, You'll have to wait until next summer for our winter collection." Retailer Retards!

Tpen...sounds like maybe you should stay out of Wal-Mart? LOL! My last excursion to Wal-Mart had me noticing the shear amount of Duck Dynasty associated crap...blankets, clothes, duct tape...I guess they should take the money while they can?

I did happen to score on the "Cheap-o" anti-freeze :thumb: . . . a buddy of mine got there before me a few weeks ago and cleaned them out.

Had I seen all those bottles of Restore and Bar...I would've just dumped a can in the oil and a can in the cooling system and not worry about replacing that motor...think of all the $ I could've saved?
I will say, you cannot beat the prices of cheap expendables (Harbor Freight, same idea)! I get my marine batteries there as pretty much everywhere I got there's one close by, just in case...and I've had a just in case!

Feliz Navidad!

I start my holiday shopping usually in mid-December. But of course, by then, they have the beach chairs and the barbeque sets out on display :D

Around here, Walmart has always set up the Christmas displays a week or 2 before Halloween... Went into Walmart looking for a specific weed wacker this summer, around july IIRC as they were the only place that had that model.. They are out of it and the guy gives me an attitude when I asked about taking the display saying that their ordering for summer OPE was closed at that time and the display model was not 'real. Also said that I should not have waited that late in the season to buy a weed wacker, Then I explained to him my old weed wacker blew up.. I found a simmilar weed wacker somewhere else..

I started seeing Christmas decor by the end of August! It sure didn't work for me.

I've also noticed Black Friday shopping hours starting earlier and earlier after the feast. Used to be "stores open at 8am sharp on Black Friday". Now it's 9pm night before, to the point shoppers are protesting!

One reason we have stopped our weekly shopping at Walmart.

Re: Christmas Comes Earlier Every Year . . .

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, I guess it is OK to start with Christmas decorations, etc.

My crew did not waste any time. Not long after the leftover turkey hit the refrigerator, the crew wanted me to set up the Christmas tree so they could decorate it. I think this is a family record for earliest Christmas tree.

My part of the fun was trying out the new LED lights that I bought at Costco last week. I got a few strings that are 'color selectable' (White only, Color, Alternating white/color). We decided that the LED strings should be 'color' and there are a couple strings of traditional white lights. The LED colors seem very true, quite an improvement over the LED strings that I have seen in the past few years.

If the LED strings work out, I plan on getting a few each year. The prices have come down nicely - 100 light strings are now about $13-$15 at Costco.

Of course, I still have numerous strings of the traditional incandescent mini-lights. I used to spend hours and hours fixing the strings each year, replacing bulbs galore. Recently, I gave up fixing lights strings unless there are only a few bad lights. I think I'll just replace the 'bad' strings each year with LED strings until I am at 100% LED. :thumb:

An aluminum pole for "festivus" is much easier to decorate. Easy to store too. It holds up the boat cover.
