T-Storm chance has dropped from 40% to 30%. Looking good.

Where are they launching the fireworks? What's a good area to drop the hook? If we can swing it, we're going to try to make it down.

The fireworks are being launched from Battery Park in New Castle. I was planning on getting on the water at about 7 at the latest to find a good spot to watch. I am still a little weary about the t-storms.

Dan,
Where do you pay for the ramp in De city? I was there last fall and did not see anybody collecting money.

SO, Do I need a sticker to use the ramp in Newport? This is the ramp back in the industrial section. Off Water street.

Yup. All state ramps require the ramp sticker, or a delaware boat regisration.

Re: Christina River, Delaware River cruise

Hey guys,

Great thread. I live in DE City directly across from the public ramp and keep my boat docked at the marina. Me and my wife get out once or twice a week and cruise from the elk/ northeast area or up to Wilmington.

I can?t tell you how hard it is to find good people to cruise out with.

How about a little bio on everyone who cruises the Delaware c&d canal area?

I and my wife are mid 20's working professionals; I have a 7 yr old son. We have a 2003 24' maxum sport cuddy and love cruising for a meal or just hanging out.

We too are cruising up to old Newcastle to watch some fireworks tonight. If you see a white and red sport cuddy stop over and introduce yourself. We'll have some cold beer.

Also, although you may need a tag to drop in at de city no has them and the rangers never ever give anyone gripe about it

Hi Max
I am in Milford and mainly cruise the Broadkill, Lewes, and Nanticoke River. I'd like to cruise with someone who knows the waterways up north. My wife and I are mid fortys with a 7 year old daughter I have 2005 Bowrider 185. I look forward to meeting up and cruising

Well here' a little about me: Married, wife and I are in out mid 30's, 2 daughters (13 and 5), We live in New Castle, by the airport. I just bought a 2001 Wellcraft Sportsman 180.

I am still not sure if I am going to hit the river tonight... threat of Thunder Storms still scares me a little. But we'll see. I told my wife that we will decide by 6pm, and make the final go-no go call at 8pm.

So, if you see a 18.5 foot Wellcraft dual console looking for a place to anchor tonight on the Delaware. That's us.

I'm in Stratford / Carriage Run: depends on which entrance you take to the development. It looks like I am going tonight, and will be putting at Delaware City.

Changed my mind, weather forecast keeps getting worse.

I will, we went out of Lewes Saturday into the bay, my day was suppose to be on the Broadkill from Milton to Lewes but the tide was low and I couldn't launch, ended up trailering to Lewes and going out from there.

Glad you made the fireworks, I am still a newbie and only made one cruise at night as needless to say it was interesting...

We ended up driving into New Castle. Sat on the bank of the Delaware and watched the show. I only saw 5 or 6 boats out there. There should have been 1 more...

Max,
With my luck I would probably be the one that the park patrol would find and fine. Does the DE city marina have a ramp? For the couple of times a year I'm there it would probably be cheaper anyway. I missed the fireworks saturday, we were there but had to leave early due to an early Sunday morning swim meet.

Wow I didn't know this area was so well represented on iboats! We just moved to Elkton (Elkmore) about a mile or so north of the C&D righ on the Elk River this fall and I am starting to explore the area. I just splashed my two year project this Sunday. Ran into a few problems, but nothing that wont be fixed in a couple of weeks. If you see an old blue and white 24' Bayliner cruiser that is missing it's windshield with a blue Bimini stop by and say hi. Looking forward to meeting y'all (yes I'm a recient transplant :D )

How old and what model, I just sold my 1987 2455 cruiser. I've migrated to Delaware in 1988 from NJ, I am STILL labelled "TransPlant" LOL LOL
