Hello,
im looking at Manual #18 and #25

The book says if you turn counterclockwise you have less choke and vice versa
BUT on my boat if I turn it counterclockwise - C - Im closing my choke plate
same here @ 0:25

is it an error done by Mercury ?

Should I Adjust the choke @ closed throttle or slightly advanced, open ? of course engine cold
Today after sitting 1 week ive got blackish smoke coming from the exhaust and running rough ,I think its running too fat. It happens only when 1st start of the day only, im wondering if its issue with the choke, need to lean it more or maybe too much float drop (?)

Stop overthinking things. If you want to have a leaner choke setting, adjust the housing so it pulls the choke plate less closed. I don't think I have ever read any book on which way to turn the choke housing. I just use my brain to figure out, if I want it leaner which way will pull the choke less closed.

The float drop is not critical and doesn't affect operation. The two purposes of a float drop adjustment are to ensure that the float doesn't fall far enough to cause the needle to jam and to ensure good fuel flow.

Again, overthinking things.
