I'm pretty sure this is a Chieftain 1975 according to the owner. Mercruiser 165 L6. Needs TLC says the ad.

I'd love to see you restore a cabin model.

You might just get to see that happen EZ, unless the purchase falls through. Weather could be my downfall going through the Rockies this time of the year.

Re: Chieftan

Thanks 64

Going to start having to put a tariff on exporting aluminum to :canada:. There's beginning to be a shortage of formed alum in the lower 48.

Hard to tell but it looks like an I/O. Will definitely be :pop2:

Nice rig Glen! It looks like there is a bow stop --- just turned downwards. Hull looks great from the pics as well as the trailer totally useable for the trip northward!

Think of it as a net net... oil vs aluminum.... call it even! :peace:

Re: Chieftan

Plan is to leave at noon on Friday, be there for 8am Sat, go through the lights and bearings. The Gentleman that owns it says he has only towed it once since the new axles, springs, hubs bearings, wheels and tires were installed, and it has been sitting on stands for the last 3 years. I'm hoping only a pump or two of grease in the BB's and on the road by 10am.:whoo:

Re: Chieftain

I've already called US Customs to put a stop to this unfair export of precious Stateside commodities. :usa2: How would you like it if we came up there and brought back all the Moosehead?

Moosehead is rated as one of the worst :canada: :very_drunk: I must agree.

PS - Glen have a safe and productive trip. :)

No road updates from me, I don't have a smart phone and if I did Iwouldn't have a clue how to run it.

Funny you should say that about US customs, they always ask me why I didn't buy one in Canada, and I always tell them you guys don't know what you have and sell them so cheap we can't pass them up.:D

An I'll rent the truck for you to take that Moosehead swill down south:puke:

Thanks GA

Re: Chieftain

Speaking of customs, do you get any grief on either side of the border? Or do you just bribe the US side with Moosehead and the CA side with Bud?

Re: Chieftain

Come on GA, bribing a federal officer is a crime! Though I'm not sure if giving us Moosehead would be considered a bribe, or assault! ;)

Looks like a great score. You will be running out of room in the Starcraft hanger pretty soon.

Good luck on the drive though! Winter road trips for boats can be... "fun". I know, 24 hrs for what I thought would be a 18 hr drive sucks!

Re: Chieftain

Border crossing with the boats is real easy, "touch wood" have all your paper work ready, the big one is, a copy of the ad for the boat, other wise they don't believe the price and can charge tax on what they feel the boat should be worth up here. The hanger only see's one rebuild at a time so no problem there. The Chief is going to go under a couple tarps till it's her turn.
