My Dad's mighty mite WC-1. Hasn't run in over 50 years, but was stored nicely in its original box. Engine and prop both turn and it has compression. No rust anywhere. So here are three questions that will really help me towards getting it running:
1) Jet setting: I read here that initially setting both main and idle jets 1 1/2 turns off closed is a good place to start. Does this sound good?
2) Throttle: By inspection I see that the throttle lever pushes on another lever that is attached to the throttle shaft, rotating the shaft to open a butterfly. When the throttle lever is returned to idle position the throttle shaft stays put. I notice the throttle shaft has a spring on its bottom where it exits the carb. I'm thinking that either this is a return spring that is broken, or more likely the shaft and butterfly are gummed up after years of storage. Insights and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
3) Shut-off: for the life of me I can't see how to shut the thing off, like some device to short the plug, or something associated with the magneto. Please tell me what I'm missing.
Thanks in advance to all familiar with the mighty mite. It would be a shame to let this cherry (and almost functional) piece of nostalgia die.
