My guess is a Naval sub alerted the C.G.
I'll bet every strategic sub in the pacific ocean (edit: got excited) when they spotted that on radar.

There are going to be a lot of upset druggies out there. They will rush to protest this "outragious interdiction of the United States Coast Gaurd on open waters". How dare they?

They should step up, if their rights were violated. What good are "rights" if the authorities don't need to respect them. My hunch is the USCG understands and respects their rights, as they are a pretty professional outfit, but then I don't know the facts in this case.

And they didn't mention how far out to sea this sub was, but the US claims authority to 100 miles off shore, and international law is in effect beyond that. I doubt if Cocaine smuggling in either case is allowed.

Actually it was a US naval ship that intercepted the sub and the crew scutteled the sub, from there the Coast Gaurd just rescused them from the brinny deep...... Can you imagine having a Naval warship homing in on you say at 40 knot's..........pull the plug and lets get the heck outta here...

What give the US Navy the authority to board a vessel thet is not registered in the US, outside of US waters, .ie "the High Seas"....

Haunt does brislte a bit when he's surrounded by the coast gaurd, when were at Hammond Marinia they were all over the place checking everyone's fish..........and old Haunt had his one on everyone of em.........nothing got past him.........
