Since I got such fast great response on my floor post, now on to seats. I can never find decent back to backs for less than like $150 each. And pedestal seats are usually more with all the hardware.

For a cheap, but decent looking restored boat, I am looking for something unique...been searching patio furniture, dont laugh. I am actually tempted to bolt in 4 white plastic deck chairs, they are sturdy, comfortable with a pad, and washable....LOL

Anyone have any great ideas? Also thinking of making wood benches....The biggest cost on my boats have been motors and seats. Cant do much on the motor, but I want to keep the current project under $500. Usually they come in at about a grand.

Making lounge seats (back to back) wouldn't be hard. Plywood, foam, marine vinyl, and staples. Add hinges, and you have extra storage space.

My bow seats are made this way, by the previous owner.

I guess patio furniture could work, who knows?

Re: Cheap seat ideas

TD is right on the money with his seat ideas/creations. Check out this site: www.fiberglassics.com to see how affordable/practical seats were done in the old days...go to the photo galleries and look for pix of the inside deck, etc. My seats in the Texas Maid are cheapo, camouflage fold up seats from Academy, bolted down with a swivel onto a "custom" cut piece of 1X8 white pine board painted to match the deck. If I add another bench seat for passengers, it will be another piece of 1X8 with a hinged back and cheapo cushions. It's your boat, so make it fit your tastes and budget...but above all make it practical and simple.
